Who do we blame?..

It is funny how some persons believe that everyone needs to be self-employed. The first world doesn't seem that way to me. There are some who prefer white collar jobs, gain the experience they need, and start something, or prefer to stay there for as long as they wish. It all depends on the individual. But life is tough, the third world is tougher. Recruitment agencies are portraying to the world that the unemployed graduates will get a job if they apply through their platform. Some make it possible, some just makes it worse. MEMCOS for example used to be a recruting firm for MTN. Every August, these agency prepares a battle for the unemployed graduates to work in the biggest telecommunication industry in the country. How do they do it? You apply through them, first, by knowing a top official, secondly, by hearsay, but that depends on if you would be called upon. The unemployed graduates seems so happy when they are sent an e-mail from the well-known network calling for an assessment.

Think like there is no BOX

How many philanthropists do we have in our country? Does philanthropy entail giving out unknown wealth to some persons? When will these so-called philanthropist think outside the box, or better still, think like there is no box? For a number of reasons, I have come to realize that giving is essential to us all. But for our country, even new born babies are aware of human financial needs, where people totally understand the value of money.

Education is missing..

Education as we know is in different forms, formal or informal. But in so many ways, we have come to realize the uncertainties in education. Of what use is it to us? Who are these group of persons that transfers these knowledge to the next generation? Categorically, learning has been passed from generation to generations, but mostly with those who have the passion for it. In most schools of today in Nigeria, education is not a reason for learning, but a reason of purpose. A purpose for some to gain knowledge, a purpose to gain a certificate which seems useless to some or useful to others, a purpose for some owners to make more money. Our system of learning has given students reasons to be scared of asking questions that may seem tough for the teachers. Why ask questions, when the person passing that knowledge only cares to hate you for ridiculing them in class The commitment of these so-called teachers are of no use to many of the students.
