Overcoming fear..
Lekan lived an independent life, disliked by his dad, loved by his mom, hated by so many persons. Lekan was done with high school and believed gaining an admission into the University was the next step. He was behind his friends who had gained admission into the University and as he waited and hoped that he would get into a prestigious University, all hopes died down. His dad disliked him more and every time his dad saw him, he said, 'you will never make it'. Lekan never listened to his dad, but he was adamant on believing that the upcoming exams he would cross through and gain admission into that University.
3 yrs later, Lekan had still not gained admission, and he gave up his dreams of getting into that so-called over-rated University as he puts it. He sought for a different step. He got into a computer training school and learned programming. With his love for technology, he became a fast learner. He talked to his mom about how he would need to improve himself and how he would love to get into a technical school not in the country. The mom talked to Lekan's dad, but his dad denied him any access of leaving the country. Lekan and his mom got a loan from the bank and he got into Egypt.
He spent 2 yrs in Egypt and went to UAE. While in UAE, he focused more on what his dad told him than and conquered as many fears as he could. While understanding the business environment in UAE, he engaged himself in programming competitions. One of which was sponsored by Facebook, he didn't win though or wasn't close to what Facebook was seeking for, but he was at a level he believed the African environment would need him.
Lekan spent 3 years in UAE and came back to his country. He was able to pay back the loan, and he got an apartment where he met with some brilliant chaps. Everyday, they would talk about different ideas and how they could relate their ideas into an enterprise. He thought of a start-up and he involved these intelligent persons with him. After some months, he designed a business proposal and sent to Etisalat. How he got the link, he didn't say. But since Etisalat is owned by the Abu Dhabi's, and since Lekan spent sometime there, I am sure Etisalat had no choice but to give him that contract. His business proposal was outstanding, and Etisalat granted him the contract of bla bla amount (he doesn't want me to disclose the amount, but it amounted to millions of euros)
Overcoming fear: Lekan decided it was time to face fear as he wanted to build his courage muscle. He knew that if he avoided taking that step, if he avoided taking that leap of faith, his power would have been given to fear completely. Lekan went through obstacles along the line, and that is normal for every person. He invested so much time on becoming aware of struggling just to make progress and his challenges were made to his advantage. In every chance he had, he dropped his fears, his fears were diminished when he made up his mind and he did what he was always afraid to do, succeeding.
Lekan today is the CEO of his organisation and he employs about 30 persons every 3 months. He has refused to become an inspirational speaker, but has today become an entrepreneur who faced everything and rose, and with his words' facing the other side of fear is freedom'.
