Crime overlooked!!!

IFC: a member of the Word Bank Group, the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries. So, why are we talking about an organisation who focuses on development in the developing countries? Why don't a general population know about them or what they do, or what they have done? Well, what they do, and what they have done, doesn't bother us, but we are concerned with what happened recently.

Why do organisations recruit? Why organisations recruit depends individually on every organisation. But then, there are basic reasons to think when they recruit. Reasons like, wanting more skills, building their strengths, needing an effective critical mass, being powerful, assembling a team that can get a task done, or people with great ideas. These reasons may be organisational or public oriented, but there are other organisations who do it for private or personal reasons. And some of these organisations recruit because they want to hear stories, they get ideas when they talk with someone, they want to see things they haven't been able to see in a while by talking to people, etc.

Organisations that do not grow, tend to die. Bringing new people into the organisation, means you are either wanting a part of a development process to function, or in turn making your organisation grow.

But what happened at IFC? IFC set up a recruitment process about 3 months ago, and resumes were sent by different applicants around the country. The tests were done at Ibadan, and the job location was in Ibadan. Well, to our surprise, the tests were done, and gladly, some passed. The interview process was done, and 30 persons were selected. The training process began, and with so much pride from the applicants, some decided it was best to let the world know what happened to them, they took pictures and posted them on Instagram, Facebook, to inform their friends about their job. Well. After 3 weeks of intensive training done, it was time for them to start work.

But lo and behold, those in charge came forward and told them to go home. They were told they would be contacted, and no reasons were given to them as to why they were all told to go home. Well, some of them deleted the pictures posted on Instagram, Facebook, and they joined the long list of those who were unemployed.

Why was the recruitment done? Was it for the reasons as to why organisations recruit? Was it for the reason that IFC wanted to gain ideas from these applicants, or someone who felt like hearing peoples stories, or just wanted to hear what these 30 applicants had to say, then got bored and decided to try another recruitment process?

What they do? They set up their recruitment process and post jobs online, using different means, and that signals the country at large. Making them realise that oh, there is a recruitment process going on, and that taxes needs to be cut down. Well, when this is done, it helps to develop the economy by reducing unemployment rates, organisational taxes are been cut down, but then when they are laid off by this process, what do you call that?
